C. J. S. Purdy Annotates the World Championships: Alekhine-Euwe 1935, Alekhine-Euwe 1937, and Fischer-Spassky 1972.
Cecil John Seddon Purdy was an Australian chess player and writer. He was awarded the titles of International Master in 1951 and Grandmaster of Correspondence Chess in 1959. Purdy was the inaugural world correspondence chess champion. He was also an influential chess magazine writer, editor, and publisher.
if you like Fischer, and if you're interested in the 1972 World Championship match that transfixed the world, this one is worth it. Many books were written about this match. This one ranks among the best of them. Apart from that, you get the extra and odd plus of deep annotation and reportage of the two Alekhine-Euwe matches from 1935 and 1937.
This opus came from the mind of an Australian author, first-world correspondence chess champion, and one of the best writers for average players who ever took up a pen. His annotations are prose-driven, and he has a knack for explaining the key moments of the games.
