Album with illustrations by American artist Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944).
Charles Dana Gibson is known as the creator of the Gibson Girls phenomenon, which represented the ideal of beauty at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Gibson drew illustrations for almost every major New York publication, such as Harper's Weekly, Scribners, and Collier's. Gibson also illustrated Anthony Hope's 1898 book The Prisoner of Zenda Castle and its sequel Rupert of Hentzau. The appearance of Gibson's Girls in 1890 brought the artist not only fame, but also wealth.
