Uppsala Universitet Press, 1997. — 46 p.The purpose of this paper is to look into the relations of the Swedish Coastal Fleet body of officers during the late Gustavianian era (1792-1809). The questions at issue in this paper is the proportions of persons with noble titles, formal education and the experiences of employment in the merchant navy or foreign armed forces among the officers of the Coastal Fleet, and also how the proportion of noble titles changed during the period. Further more, italso inquires into how times of war changed these proportions and how they effected a persons chances of becoming an officer and their possibilities of a further career within the service branch.
