T.se swarms possess a unique phenomenon, i.e., a collective behavior on a global scale, whereas individual swarms show restricted behavior with the surrounding environment on a local scale. This collective global behavior has been exhaustively studied by researchers in nature and simulated in the form of artificial swarms to solve large-scale optimization problems in the field of computational intelligence. Some of the well-established swarm intelligence-based optimization algorithms are Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), Salp Swarm Algorithm, etc.. This chapter deals with the explanation of optimization techniques based on SI and their application in the field of communication technology focusing on the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) optimal placement problem and optimal path planning of UAV.
