Good Housekeeping (USA) was founded as a fortnightly magazine in 1885 by the poet, Clark W. Bryan, and was later acquired by the Hearst Corporation (1911), at which time, it had achieved 300 000 subscribers. Further, this magazine became a monthly publication in 1891, and a sister publication, British Good Housekeeping, was started in 1922. Being one of the most well-known of the "Seven Sisters" group of women's magazines in the market, profits had already exceeded $11 million by 1955 and 5,000,000 copies had been sold by 1962. Today, more than 25 million ladies follow each edition every month! Over the years many famous writers, columnists, politicians and chefs have contributed their valuable insights. What has also set Good Housekeeping (USA) apart from most of the others are: the product testing by The Good Housekeeping Institute, the "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" (aka a limited warranty program) and excellent literary, cuisine, health and dieting articles.
