Why ‘Wonderful Me’?
In this theme, children will learn about their body. They will discuss their body parts, their feelings, their healthy habits and try out what their body can do. Also, each topic is coupled with a sense organ’s ability and related activities. As a part of understanding their sense organs, they will see, hear, taste, touch and smell different things to understand their sense organs.
Topic 1: Children observe their physical traits , learn about their body parts and explore their sense of smell.
Topic 2: Children will discuss healthy habits and experience their sense of touch.
Topic 3: Children will talk about their emotions and understand their sense of vision.
Topic 4: This topic will give the children a hands-on experience of what all they can do with their body and the limbs.
Have a corner in your classroom that would help the children to learn the names of their body parts and explore their five senses. Place things of different colours to see, different textured things to touch, objects/spices of various smells, shakers with several kinds of sound-producing objects for the children to listen to. Keeping cut-outs of faces, hands and legs of images from a magazine or a newspaper in a bowl might interest the kids to do a mix-n-match people. It is also encouraged to display the children’s self-portraits in this section.
