N. Pleshcheev. The story is subtitled “A Sentimental Novel. From the memories of a dreamer."The main character of the story is a dreamer, a lonely and timid person. On a white night, the dreamer accidentally meets the girl Nastenka and falls in love with her, and she sees in him a kindred spirit, a brother. Nastenka tells him her story. She lived all her early years with her blind grandmother, coming to her after the death of her parents. The grandmother did not let Nastenka leave her side for long and pinned her by the dress to her dress. Nastenka's life was monotonous and sad. But everything changed when a guest came to them and took pity on the girl. Nastya fell in love and was going to leave with him, but the man was very poor and promised to return in a year. The deadline has expired, and he is in the city, she knows about it, she is waiting, but he still does not come to her and does not answer her letter. Deciding that her lover abandoned her, Nastenka decides to respond to the dreamer’s feelings. However, when her lover appears, Nastenka runs away from the dreamer and apologizes for the betrayal in a letter. The main character forgives her and still continues to love her. Nastenka is the brightest event in his life! And he is just a support in difficult times. His happiness did not materialize, he is lonely again.
