Madison: Wisconsin Univ., 1966. – 156 p.The 31 selections in this reader were taken from the pages of a number of daily and weekly Telugu newspapers. They were selected to acquaint the student with a variety of types of journalistic writing in Telugu while instructing him in important reading skills. The material has been graded for difficulty and includes a variety of subjects. The preparation of this reader was similar to that of "Graded Readings in Modern Literary Telugu — Preliminary Edition" (al 000 904). A computer was used in arranging the selections by relative difficulty. Again, the first half of the reader introduces major grammatical points which are then reinforced in the second half. The accompanying glossary (al 000 906) gives the English equivalent for the Telugu material presented here in devanagari. (jd)
