These questions guided the work of the Diversity, Citizenship, and Global Education Consensus Panel that was supported by the Spencer Foundation with continuing support from the University of Washington.Democracy and Diversity is the product of a two-year project during which the Panel identified 4 important principles and 10 concepts that constitute essential elements of effective citizenship education programs in democratic multicultural nation-states. It also contains a Checklist designed to be used by educators who want to determine the extent to which the principles and concepts identified by the Panel are reflected in their classroom and schools.This publication also contains an extensive and helpful bibliography of new and informative resources.
