Four battles: Tarawa; Stalingrad; D-Day; Battle of the Bulge are covered in Rooney's quirky way but more seriously than his TV vignettes on 60 Minutes would become. Very American-centric in his reports on these battles but in line with the thinking of the war at that time. He is best when describing individual combat actions, no false pictures of glory and heroic actions. He tells the real story, like the first time you saw Saving Private Ryan, it comes across bloody and horrific.
