Is 1 e4 e5 2 d4 exd4 3 c3 a winning weapon for White? Hannes Langrock thinks so. His book The Modern Morra Gambit: A Dynamic Weapon Against the Sicilian (Russell Enterprises, 2006) has created quite a stir in the past year or so. I am not so sure whether it would work in correspondence
play, but I am certainly considering giving it a whirl in over-the-board games some time soon. In this review, I will look at some of the lines he considers and add some material not in the book.
