This little book shall not he more than what its title says, namely a Guide for Europeans who care to study the Tshi Language. Leading beginners into the necessary elementary knowledge of it, the series of well arranged lessons will gradually introduce them to its fundamental principles and at the same time make them aqnainted with a good working Vocabulary.
Many lessons contain quotations from the Bible which, we hope, will render special help to many a missionary.
It may be suggested that it is absolutely necessary that everybody who is willing to master the language should go through the lessons with the help of a native whose duty would be. repeatedly to read the single words and sentences, so that the ear of the learner might become
accustomed to the accentuation. Following this advice he will be enabled to learn an accurate pronunciation. The Grammatical Exercises are given under this prospect in Tshi only. The correct translation can easily be done with the help of a native.
All who desire to acquire a fuller knowledge of this interesting language can get the required information by "Christaller's Grammar of the Asante and Fante language."
Concerning the Orthography, as well as the laws of accentuation & correct tones, I refer to the above mentioned book.
