Singapore: Spink & Son's, 2019. — 56 p.
This small sale of 56 lots includes some of the great rarities from this period. Starting with the 1854 issue there are items from all three of the settlements, Malacca, Penang and Singapore. Among the covers there is the earliest recorded use of Indian stamps in the Straits Settlements, the second earliest use of the 4a. and the earliest record use of the "B/172" obliterator in private hands.
The De La Rue issues comprise a fine group of covers to a range of different destinations including Australia, Spain and USA. There then follows a wonderful offering of nine bisect covers. Included is the unique 1854 2a. on cover to Hong Kong, the highest known bisect franking of 30a. and one of two known, the 8a. on blued paper on cover from Penang and one of four 8 p. bisects of which only two are in private hands.
The sale concludes with transit mail from the Netherlands East Indies, Philippines and Sarawak.
