After the treatise on the Sacraments and Sacramentals, we come to sacred places as the next subject of consideration. Sacred places partake, as it were, of the sacramental nature and may, therefore, be truly called vehicles of sanctification. Besides, being consecrated or blessed, they may be claimed by the ecclesiastical authorities as their own, and are not subject to civil power.
