Tillmann B.N., Elbermani W. Atlas of human anatomy
New York: Mud Puddle Books, 2007. — 726 p.
This edition of Tillmann's Atlas of Human Anatomy combines some of the most useful features of atlases of the human body. The atlas is well laid out as it takes one systematically through defined surface anatomy regions and features followed by detailed annotated plates beautifully illustrated through the head and neck, extremities, and thorax and abdomen. It also provides a careful gross and sectional presentation of the human brain.
Knowledge of anatomy provides clinicians with the language essential for accurage analysis and description of the body in health and disease. That detailed knowledge of anatomy is required for the practice of medicine should seem axiomatic. Still, it is unrealistic to expect anyone to memorize every detail of human anatomy. Every clinician must have a readily available tool to provide a just-in-time filler for their knowledge gaps. The Clinical Edition of Tillmann's Atlas of Human Anatomy by Walid I. Ebermani is ideally suited for this role. Its superb organization makes anatomic detail readily accessible. Its use of life-like drawings, schematics and even radiographs makes it relevant and practical while uncompromising in detail. This reference should be at hand during clinical encounters and conferences to ensure that our anatomic descriptions and analyses are always accurate.
