This book contains five Practice Tests for the Cambridge First Certificate in English examination. The tests reflect the kind of materials and tasks you can expect to come across when you take the FCE itself. They have been taken from a wide range of authentic sources and also reflect the topic areas which form the basis of the examination.
During your English lessons your teacher will have been preparing you for the FCE examination by using a course book. These five tests should be used for practice purposes in the few weeks before you take the exam. In this way the tests will give you practice not only in coping with the kinds of tasks you will be required to complete in the exam, but also with the amount of time allowed for each paper. By the time you reach the fifth and last Practice Test, you should feel confident about your ability to work quickly and accurately within the time limit for each paper.
Always make sure that you have checked through and corrected each test before proceeding to the next test and that you have discussed with your teacher any particular difficulties. In this way you should be able to focus on any problems which need your teacher’s help.
