In order to understand the Tibetan language it is imperative to trace the various forms of a verb or word to their common original form or root, irrespective of whether in the development of the Tibetan language these roots have served only as mental prototypes of thoughts not yet crystallized into words or whether they have become spoken words, and also irrespective of whether the Tibetan language was from the beginning root-inflecting, or whether the original Tibetan is to be considered as a so-called isolating language like the present day Chinese, etc.
