The Structure Index displays in reduced size the structural formulae from all entries in Supplements 1-5 inclusive.
These structural formulae are contained within metal element sections ordered according to the element symbol, and within each section in order of Dictionary Number. The Dictionary Number consists of a metal element symbol followed by a five digit number. The first digit indicates the Supplement in which the entry is to be found. When searching for a specific compound, the Structure Index to Supplements 1-5 should be consulted before the one in the Main Work. If the compound of interest is found in one of the Supplements there should be no need for the reader to consult the Main Work. This is because where a Supplement Entry contains additional or corrected information referring to an earlier entry the new entry replaces the old one.
