An introduction and list of exhibits to the Exhibition at Kingston upon Thames Museum and Heritage Centre, opened May 1984.
Eadweard James Muybridge was born Edward James Muggeridge at Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, in 1830, and died there in 1904. He spent much of his working life in America, where he found fame as a photographer. Muybridge's sequence photography has been hugely influential to the present day, providing inspiration for artists around the world. Muybridge donated and bequeathed an important collection of his work to the Royal Borough of Kingston. This book details and illustrates the collection, including many previously unpublished moving image discs featuring animated silhouettes and coloured drawings.
