Chen Pan-ling was a practical martial artist who had a background in not only Tai Chi (Yang & Wu), but also Hsing Yi and Bagua. The book not only includes clear photos and precise descriptions of the proper movements and applications, but also descriptions of how you should feel. This is Tai Chi at it's most practical, not a new-agey easy to learn sequence. Chen’s work was further enhanced with a great forward by the superb writer Robert W Smith. Smith was a highly talented, creative, and incomparable martial arts writer. Were it not for Mr. Smith, imv, the late Cheng ManChing, a junior student of the great Yang Chengfu, would scarcely be known today. But in fact, books by students of Mr. Cheng abound in bookstores here. This excellently produced book was further enhanced by the obvious writing talent of Ms. Ann Carruthers and Mr. Y.W. Chang. Ms. Carruthers' effort make this work a treasure to have in a taiji library.
