Ven. Piyananda is a senior monk from Sri Lanka who has lived in the United States for more than twenty-three years. Here he has written a book that embodies well the approach of Theravada Buddhism, with lessons that are applicable to all schools of Buddhism. He has managed to relate his own extensive experience of dealing with people living in the United States, whether they are Asian or American, Buddhist or non-Buddhist, and set it all in the context of the Lord Buddha’s teaching. In so doing, I believe he has created a book to which all readers can relate. (—Tenzin Gyatso, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama)
