In the first place, there is still no great volume of authentic written Tswana in existence, although there is a great deal more than there was 20 years ago; consequently, the grammarian, the lexicographer, and the language teacher, are all still feeling their way. A conscientious writer hence experiences a recurring desire to postpone publication until he knows just a little more himself, is more certain of this thesis or that explanation, and has penetrated a little further into the mysteries of the language. One has a reluctance to finalise what may later be found to be premature, incomplete, or not absolutely accurate.
