The Thirty Years War, which occurred in the first half of the seventeenth century (1618-1648), may be considered the first all-European war in terms of its participants and its extent. The activities of the major European powers in this war have been examined in great detail by many scholars. However, little is known about the role of the minor participants, the Cossacks of Ukraine, the Poles, and the Croats. This study is devoted to the investigation of the activities of the Cossacks throughout the Thirty Years War.
