Kirton J., Charlie B. Further Aspects of the Grammar of Yanyuwa, Northern Australia
Pacific Linguistics, The Australian National University, 1996. — xiv + 216 p.
Yanyuwa is a critically endangered Pama-Nyungan language spoken by around 100 people in the Gulf of Carpentaria region of Australia's Northern Territory.
Like many other Australian Aboriginal languages, Yanyuwa is a complex agglutinative language with ergative case marking whose grammar is pervaded by a set of 16 noun classes whose agreements are complicated and numerous. Perhaps the most unusual feature related to Yanyuwa grammar, however, is the occurrence of separate dialects for men and for women speakers.
