Photography is a method of communicating. Just as with the expression of a verbal idea, there must first be a thought, a concept of what is to be said. Sometimes the thought is unclear at first, or difficult to put into words. A photographic concept may be at first unrefined and vague, and you may not know how to bring it to fruition on film. Sometimes a thought is complex or abstract, and language does not provide the vocabulary to express it completely. If the photographic concept is complex, you must expand your vocabulary of techniques in order to produce the concept on film.
