Adams A. Yosemite Valley
5 Associates, 1959. — 72 p.
Sculptured in crystalline granite by ancient glaciers that are now bright streams, Yosemite Valley is one of the great gestures of the earth. It lies deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada, yet millions come to it on pilgrimage from across the world. There is not only beauty here but magic, and an exaltation, and a sense of continuous revelation.
Its seasons follow each other like the movements of a symphony. In spring, it is full of soaring lights and singing waters. In summer, the sun's deep blaze on slope and summit darkens only with the passing of majestic thunderstorms. In autumn, the low sun from behind dome or spire turns the forest into sudden gold, and through the crisp stillness a rustle comes sharp to the listening ear. In winter, in the hush after the deep snows, the enchanted crags seem to float, appearing, vanishing in cloud, above the unbelievable delicacy of the forest.
