You will note that many of the photographs inside this book are grainy and a little blurred. They were taken in the heat and dust and smoke of battle by men who were there. The soldiers in these pictures do not look very glamorous. They do not stand upright; they crouch-and frequently lie flat on their bellies. They are tough, dirty, scared, and usually in a hell of a hurry.
