Simply Sewing 2015 №10
Simplysewingmag. — 148 p.
Winter is our favourite time of year for sewing – we’re only too glad to take shelter from the cold and cosy up front of our sewing machines! And, because the season of sewing (as winter shall now be known) is now upon us, we’ve not only packed Simply Sewing issue 10 p. fun makes, but have also thrown in a bonus booklet of projects in collaboration with Sew Crafty, too. Here’s a peek at what’s inside…
We’ve teamed up with Sew Crafty shop owner and blogger, Sammy, to bring you issue 10′s fabulous free gift: a jam-packed booklet featuring 20 things to make with a fat quarter. From a lips-shaped clutch bag and dotty make-up brush case to cute bow cushions and dress-up fairy wings, there’s plenty in this nifty booklet to inspire you (and it provides the perfect excuse to buy more fabric!).
Inside Simply Sewing issue 10 you’ll find step-by-steps for how to make an on-trend cape that gives classic tweed a modern makeover, festive makes for the home (including the most charming advent calendar you ever did see), Christmas bow ties for dapper dogs and a sweet toy mouse, plus an interview with Colette Patterns founder and superstar stitcher, Sarai Mitnick.
Also in issue 10 of Simply Sewing:
A glam vintage-inspired fascinator from Lisa Comfort;
Christmas fabric chains to adorn your home;
Practical and pretty patchwork drum pouffes;
Learn how to sew sashiko stitch;
Update your dining room with bright seat pads;
Step into designer Chloe Owens’ retro sewing world;
Tif Fussell shares the sewing project she cherishes the most.
Simply Sewing issue 10 has the third and penultimate installment of our sew along series with designer Kirsty Hartley, which started with a jersey dress in Simply Sewing issue 8. This month, we’re stitching a day-to-night dress using the same four-way dress pattern (download it here). We’ve styled ours with a denim jacket and printed scarf for daytime outings, and heels and metallic accessories for the evening. We love to see your makes, so join the sew along and show us how you’re getting on using #simplysewingmag.
Happy sewing! x
