Simply Sewing 2016 №16
Simplysewingmag. — 101 p.
Spring has finally arrived and we’re looking for any excuse to take our me-mades outside in the sunshine! Pretty and practical projects is what Simply Sewing issue 16 is all about, with new-season wardrobe must-haves, fresh homewares and fun makes for playtime. Here’s a peek at what’s inside…
We’ve collaborated with Sew Over It for issue 16′s free sewing pattern, The Poppy Playsuit, available in UK sizes 8-22. With a super-comfy loose fit and simple construction, it’s a great first project.
The Poppy is a spring and summer staple ideal for everything from blustery days at the beach (with no need to worry about unwanted skirt malfunctions!) and afternoons at the park with the kids to barbecues with friends.
Share your Poppy Playsuit with us using #simplysewingmag – we’d love to see!
We’ve got plenty more spring wardrobe ideas in this issue too, with a simple scallop-hem tee update, self-drafted chambray top (no pattern needed!) and glam frill cami top pattern from The Great British Sewing Bee: Fashion with Fabric.
Speaking of the Sewing Bee, we’re celebrating the show’s return by catching up with former contestants and industry experts to get their take on the Sewing Bee Effect (plus, keep an eye out for an interview with new judge Esme Young coming soon to the blog!).
We’ve also been channelling our inner hipster this issue with retro-print makes for home and away, including a leather-trimmed camera bag, geometric cushion and fabric bookends. For a quick home make, try the speedy lampshade upcycle – it’ll only take an hour!
Plus, keep the kids happy with an appliqued plushie guitar, party fox plushie (complete with photo booth props!), pretty butterfly sundress and bird baby mobile.
