Duncan Louis D., Unset Ronald J. Six decree of freedon digital simulation model for unguided fin-stabilized rockets
Scientific paper. New Mexico: Atmospheric sciences laboratory. 1964. – 32 p.
A six degree of freedom model for digital simulation of the trajectory of an unguided, fin-stabilized rocket is developed. A derivation of the equations and an explanation of the coordinate systems are presented. The development assumes that the trajectory will be over a rotating planet with a variable atmosphere. A space-variable, three-dimensional wind vector is assured.
The equations of motion are derived from Newton's Laws of Motion. The aerodynamic forces and moments are based on the theory of stability derivatives and the assumption of linear aerodynamics. The body axes are assumed to be principal axes of inertia.
