This book, therefore, focuses on comprehensive evaluations, taking into account the simultaneous use of multiple resources to produce multiple services. We use recent advances in benchmarking, most notably the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) methods, to support such evaluations. We introduce the underlying concepts and ideas without the usual mathematical wrapping. We demonstrate how to solve simple problems in hand and how to use state-of-the-art software, most notably interactive benchmarking, IB, to support more complicated evaluations.
