From Author:
Much of the material in this book appeared in my column "Puzzles, Paradoxes and Pitfalls" in Science Digest magazine. I want to thank the staff of Science Digest, particularly Scott DeGarmo, Pierce G. Fredericks, Kathy Guthmuller, Judith Stone, and Russell Zolan, for letting me unleash my wacky conundrums on their readers. I also want to express my gratitude to St. Martin's Press, particularly to Michael Denneny and Paul Dinas, for giving me this additional opportunity to play mind games with the world.
Many of the brainteasers in this book have been fine-tuned because of the letters I've received
from more than ten thousand puzzle enthusiasts. I'm glad that my column has helped to bring together the problem-solving community, and I hope this book will do the same.
