Holzner S. Perl Core Language Little Black Book: The Essentials of the Perl Language
Coriolis Group Books, 1999. — 500 p. — ISBN: 1576104265, 9781576104262
Covers Perl syntax and programming thoroughly from the essentials up through the issues of security, creating Perl packages, and topics like dynamic multiple class inheritance. Includes step-by-step solutions on object-oriented programming in Perl.
Covers how to handle syntax, math, files, modules, CGI, and OLE for Perl programming.
Steven Holzner got involved with Perl long before he ever thought about writing books about it because he found it so much fun to program with. Steve's been programming on the Internet before it was even called the Internet, and he finds Perl the ideal CGI tool. Steve has written on many programming topics (he's at work now on his 48th book), and has been a contributing editor at PC Magazine.
Besides writing, he has a Ph.D. in physics from Cornell University, where he was on the faculty for ten years. He's also been on the faculty at MIT, where he got his undergraduate degree. These days, Steve and Nancy divide their time between residences in the Austrian Alps, Tanglewood, and a small, picturesque town on the New England coast.
